There are two participation options:
- RELAY RACE: Teams of six (three running and three cycling). This gives the serious and not-so-serious runner/cyclist the chance to take part, making for a great team-building opportunity for corporates, clubs, and schools.
- SOLO RACE: Take on the train as a solo athlete in this interesting “duathlon-style” mix of running and mountain biking.
Teams: Male, Female, Mixed (any gender mix), Corporate (any gender mix), Tertiary Institutions, Secondary Schools.
Solo: Male and Female (Solo category limited to 100 athletes only)

Team members’ transport to the handover points is the team’s own responsibility.
On-route seconding by support teams will not be allowed. Any team found to transgress this rule will promptly be disqualified/expelled from the route.
Solo athletes should have one support vehicle to transport the athlete’s mountain bike to Malan Station and Tulbaghweg Station.
Supporters need to follow the R44 and then the R46 and utilise hand-over/viewing points to support their respective teams or solo athletes.
Cut-offs will be enforced on route to ensure participants’ safety. The respective cut-offs are 13h00 at Tulbaghweg Station and 17h00 at the Finish.
Herewith the GPS coordinates for the hand-over points:
