There are two participation options:

  • RELAY: Teams of six (three running and three cycling).  This gives the serious and not-so-serious runner/cyclist the chance to take part, making for a great team-building opportunity for corporates, clubs, and schools.
  • SOLO: Take on the train as a solo athlete in this interesting “duathlon-style” mix of running and mountain biking.
  • DUO (NEW!!): Team up with a friend/family member/training buddy/colleague in the new DUO challenge.


Teams: Male, Female, Mixed (any gender mix), Corporate (any gender mix) and, Schools (any gender mix).

Leg 1:  Wellington to Malan Station (Run 1 = approx. 7km)

Leg 2:  Malan Station to Hermon Station (Cycle 1 = approx. 22km)

Leg 3:  Hermon Station to Gouda Station (Cycle 2 = approx. 19km)

Leg 4:  Gouda Station to Tulbagh Road Station (Run 2 = approx. 8km)

Leg 5:  Tulbagh Road Station to Witzenberg Mountain Inn (Cycle 3 = approx. 24km)

Leg 6:  Winterberg Mountain Inn/Harvest Table Bistro to Ceres Golf Club (Run 3 = approx. 9km)


Team members’ transport to the handover points is the team’s own responsibility.
On-route seconding by support teams will not be allowed. Any team found to transgress this rule will promptly be disqualified/expelled from the route.
Solo athletes should have one support vehicle to transport the athlete’s mountain bike to Malan Station and Tulbaghweg Station.

Supporters need to follow the R44 and then the R46 and utilise hand-over/viewing points to support their respective teams or solo athletes.

Cut-offs will be enforced on route to ensure participants’ safety. The respective cut-offs are 13h00 at Tulbaghweg Station and 17h00 at the Finish.

This is near the White Bridge that is located on the R43 just before it joins the R46 that goes over Michells Pass.

Saturday, 20 October 2018 @ 15h30 at the finish at the Ceres Golf & Eco Estate – includes a lucky draw for those present.
